Sociology Professor and Students Head to Cambodia for Fieldwork

Next month, Assistant Professor of Sociology Maryann Bylander will take three of her students—Lacey Jacoby ’17, Andrea Blobel Perez ’19, and Peter Bradley ’19—to Cambodia. The team will work on their project “Loans That Change Lives: Interrogating Microcredit in Cambodia.” Read more.

Watzek Special Collections Unveils Katherine Dunn Exhibit

The Horror of Normalcy: Katherine Dunn, Geek Love, and Cult Literature exhibit is now open to the public in Watzek Library. The collection—curated in part by English major Sydney Owada ’19— includes early versions and translated copies of Dunn’s novels Attic, Truck, and Geek Love, as well as notes, fan mail, and correspondence. The exhibit will run through August 2017. Read more.

Students Earn Grant to Work Toward Peace in Post-Conflict Uganda

For the 11th consecutive year, Lewis & Clark has been awarded a 100 Projects for Peace grant to empower young ideas for conflict prevention, resolution, and reconciliation. Max Clary ’18, Seren Villwock ’19, and Nellie Trenga-Schein ’17 will work to teach peaceful livelihood and sustainability to former child soldiers and those affected by the war in northern Uganda. Alex Jones ’17 Honored With Play it Forward Award

Student-athlete senior Alex Jones has spent hundreds of hours volunteering for various causes. His commitment to Specialty Athletic Training, an organization that exclusively trains individuals with special needs (most of whom are children), earned him the Play it Forward Award from the Oregon Sports Awards.
