Alumna Combines Entrepreneurship, Tech, and Equity to Win Business Competition

Renee Allums BA ’18 won this year’s PitchBlack business competition—an annual event that supports Portland’s Black business community by providing entrepreneurs with the opportunity to pitch their ideas and receive funding. Renee’s idea, called #tag, aims to provide protection and fair compensation for content creators by using cryptocurrency to represent digital ownership over concepts, ideas, and designs.

Lewis & Clark Law School Receives $3.7 Million to Support Environmental Law Fellowships and Scholarships

Lewis & Clark Law School recently received a charitable bequest of $3.7 million from environmental activist John E. Diehl. The bequest, which is the second largest gift ever made to the law school, supports fellowships and scholarships within the environmental law program, ranked #1 in the nation by U.S. News. Symposium Focuses on Climate, Environment, and Uneven Development

The 22nd annual Environmental Affairs Symposium offers a broad approach to the concept of environment via a series of events throughout the 2019–20 school year. The symposium will kick off on Tuesday, October 22, with a keynote address by Sunita Narain, the director general of Centre for Science and Environment in India. Full details.

Lewis & Clark Announces Its New 4-5-6 Commitment!

Lewis & Clark offers multiple pathways to academic and professional success. Last spring, the institution organized these pathways under a new umbrella called the 4-5-6 Commitment. This is comprised of a bachelor of arts degree (BA) in eight semesters (four years) or we pay for the ninth; a BA along with a master of arts in teaching (MAT) from our Graduate School of Education and Counseling in five years; or a BA along with a doctor of jurisprudence (JD) from our law school in just six years, compared to the usual seven. New Scholarship Aims to Foster Oregon Entrepreneurship

A new merit scholarship encourages Oregon high school students to study entrepreneurship as part of their liberal arts experience. Scholarships will be available to selected students who apply to begin school in the fall of 2020. More information.
