Katie Kowal BA '17 Wins Rhodes Scholarship
|
Katie Kowal BA ’17, a science policy fellow at the Science and Technology Policy Institute in Washington, D.C., has won a prestigious Rhodes Scholarship. Katie, who Dean Bruce Suttmeier says might be “the most decorated alumna we have ever graduated,” plans to use her scholarship at the University of Oxford to study methods to attribute extreme weather. Lewis & Clark Welcomes a New Dean of Students

On October 19, President Wim Wiewel announced that Robin Holmes-Sullivan, currently the vice president for student affairs at the University of California, will become Lewis & Clark’s new vice president for student life and dean of students. “I look forward to playing a role in improving the retention and graduation rates of students while ensuring their experiences are well rounded and reflective of a stellar liberal arts education,” Robin says. Pioneer Travel: Peru Trek—Spots Still Available!

In April 2019, L&C alumni, parents, friends, family, and students will trek through the breathtaking Cordillera Blanca in the Andes mountains! Led by Kori Rosenstiel from College Outdoors, this trip is part of the Pioneer Travel Program, which offers the college community opportunities for lifelong learning. New Course on Sustainability and Entrepreneurship

This semester, Lewis & Clark Law Professor Dan Rohlf is teaching a class in sustainability and entrepreneurship at the College of Arts and Sciences. The class is open to all majors and focuses on current trends to address environmental, economic, and social disparities of the 21st century. Read more.

Analyzing Public Diplomacy Through Portland's Sister Cities
|
|
Associate Professor of Sociology and Anthropology Jennifer Hubbert has been awarded a two-year research fellowship through the University of Southern California Center on Public Diplomacy to study the Sister Cities International Program. Her research will focus on policy analysis of four of Portland’s nine sister cities and their interactions. Find out more about Professor Hubbert’s research.
