Alumni Weekend Draws Big Crowd

With perfect weather and over 70 events, Alumni Weekend 2017 was a big success. More than 1,000 alumni, family, and friends gathered from around the world to reconnect, celebrate, and roam our beautiful campus. Enjoy these photos from the weekend. Freelance photographer Kainoa Little ’10 spent April and May in Mosul with Iraqi forces as they tried to recapture the city, three years after its capture by the Islamic State. See his photos on Willamette Week’s website.

Athletics Hall of Fame Class of 2017

One of the highlights of Homecoming Weekend is welcoming back former Pioneer student-athletes for their induction to the Athletics Hall of Fame. This year, the 1991 football team and the 2005–06 women's rowing team—along with Jeremy Cox ’98, Chris Edison ’84, Carla McHattie ’06, Dick Voll ’53, and Jerry Walker ’92—will be honored on Friday, October 20, at the annual Hall of Fame dinner and ceremony. Read more about our inductees. Homecoming details and registration information will be available in early September. For now, save the date for Homecoming Weekend 2017, October 20–22!

Frances Swanson ’17 and Kori Groenveld ’18 combined their passions for environmental sustainability and social justice with a project to help combat gentrification and the unequal distribution of renewable energy infrastructure in downtown Portland. Learn more.
