Journey to Iceland With Pioneer Travel! 

Our newest travel offering is an incredible nine-day journey through Iceland in August 2018 with Associate Professor of Geological Sciences Liz Safran! Highlights include exploring the Westman Islands, touring the inside of Langjökull Glacier, and a visit to the famous Blue Lagoon. The Pioneer Travel Program offers alumni, parents, and friends of the college opportunities for lifelong learning. A few spots also remain on our upcoming trips to Morocco and the San Juan Islands, so act fast! More details and registration

Registration for Alumni Weekend 2018 is now open! Come celebrate Lewis & Clark’s 150th year from June 20–25 with Pios of all ages. Biology Professor’s Research Featured in Nature

Assistant Professor of Biology Margaret Metz’s research explores how climate and latitude affect the coexistence of tree species in forests around the world. For the past three years, Metz has brought a group of students with her to Ecuador, giving them the opportunity to conduct advanced fieldwork. Her recent research is featured in the international science journal Nature. Read more.

Students Dive Deep Into Entrepreneurship and Leadership During Winterim

For 5 days over winter break, 30 Lewis & Clark students joined faculty and mentors to learn about entrepreneurship from the ground up, connecting their liberal arts learning with tools for identifying problems and developing solutions. The Winterim program, organized by the newly renamed Bates Center for Entrepreneurship and Leadership, is in its sixth year. Read more about the students’ experience.

Pioneers Celebrate National Girls and Women in Sports Day

In honor of the 32nd National Girls and Women in Sports Day on February 4, the Pioneers are hosting their 3rd annual free clinic for girls ages 7–12. Participants will be mentored by student-athletes and coaches and learn new skills in tennis, soccer, volleyball, track and field, and basketball. More information and registration details.
