Eleven Honored With Fulbright Awards

Six Lewis & Clark seniors and five alumni will spend the next year pursuing teaching and research overseas after receiving prestigious awards from the Fulbright Program. From studying the Maori justice system in New Zealand to teaching in Norway, their work will be as varied as the individuals. Meet these talented scholars.

Interim Dean Takes Helm This Summer

Associate Professor of Psychology Jerusha Detweiler-Bedell, a faculty leader and a nationally acclaimed teacher, has been appointed by President Barry Glassner to serve as interim dean of the College of Arts and Sciences. Detweiler-Bedell will serve for one year beginning July 1. She will succeed Dean Tuajuanda Jordan, who has been named the new president of St. Mary’s College of Maryland. Read more.

Alumna Awarded Prestigious NCAA Scholarship

Kristina Williams B.A. ’13, one of Lewis & Clark’s most accomplished NCAA women’s basketball players, has received the much-coveted NCAA Women’s Enhancement Program Postgraduate Scholarship for Careers in Athletics. In an interview with the Career Development Center, Williams shares her advice and perspective with current students.
 
Paul Allen

Students Name Teacher of the Year

Paul T. Allen, assistant professor of mathematics, has been named the 2014 Teacher of the Year for the College of Arts and Sciences. Allen joined Lewis & Clark in 2010 and specializes in geometric analysis and mathematical relativity. Read more and see Allen’s acceptance speech.

The Future of Higher Education

On April 10, approximately 70 college presidents and other leaders in higher education from around the country gathered on campus for a candid exploration of what college might look like in 2025. Hosted by President Glassner, the conference probed issues including the future of technology in college and university instruction, the economics of postsecondary education, higher education’s public voice, and the future of the humanities.
