While I like to start these messages with a “Happy Monday, students!”, I start this Monday with a heavy heart. This past weekend, your fellow student, first-year Roan Mulholland, died unexpectedly after a sudden medical event on campus. A message was sent out this weekend with more information. Please keep Roan’s family and friends in your thoughts as they begin to deal with the shock and loss. A celebration of life will be held soon. We’ll share that information when it’s ready. Thank you.

On the matter of our collective handling of the COVID pandemic, I want to salute you for maintaining your health practices. At last week’s COVID testing clinic, we tested 484 members of our community, a mix of students, faculty, and staff. All 484 samples were negative. Residence Hall effluent testing results also came back negative. Let’s keep it up through the end of semester and set ourselves up for healthy summers!

  • COVID-19 cases: So far this semester, Lewis & Clark has administered 3,912 COVID-19 tests to employees and students from all three campuses, yielding 8 positive results from on-campus testing. There are currently no cases with campus impact.
  • Effluent testing results: Effluent testing results from samples collected last week came back as non-detects across the board.

Lastly, looking to the week ahead, I want to call your attention to two events worthy of your attention, attendance, and engagement: the 40th annual Gender Studies Symposium, which kicks off this Wednesday; and, the Theatre Department’s spring production of The Secretaries, which debuts this weekend. Put them on your calendars. You’ll be glad you did.

Stay healthy, take care of yourselves, and as always, WeB4Me@LC.
