Dear faculty, staff, and students:

More than 600 of you have expressed an interest in the COVID booster vaccine through our on-campus clinics next week. That’s great!

To follow-up on my message of last week, dates have been confirmed for those clinics. They will be held on:

  • Tuesday, November 16, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
  • Wednesday, November 17, from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m.

  • Thursday, November 18, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.

All of these clinics will be held in Council Chamber in Templeton Student Center on the undergraduate campus.

You are eligible to sign up for these clinics ONLY if you meet one or more of the state eligibility guidelines:

  • You are a student with an underlying medical condition, and you received your last dose of mRNA vaccine (i.e., Pfizer or Moderna) at least six months ago; or
  • You are a student who received your Johnson & Johnson vaccine at least two months ago; or

  • You are an employee of the college, including student employees. (Higher education workers qualify for booster doses as "frontline workers.") If you are an employee, you must ALSO meet ONE of the following conditions to be eligible for a booster dose:

  • You received your second dose of the Pfizer or Moderna vaccine at least six months ago

  • You received your Johnson & Johnson vaccine at least two months ago

Please note:

  • Students who do not work for the college and who do not meet one of the other criteria above are not yet eligible for COVID vaccine booster doses, based on Oregon Health Authority guidelines.
  • Also, at this time, the CDC has no recommendation regarding a booster dose for people who were vaccinated outside the United States with a WHO-Emergency Use Listed COVID-19 vaccine that is not FDA-authorized or approved. This means we will only be able to provide booster doses to individuals who received either the Moderna, Pfizer, or J&J vaccines as their original vaccination.

    Important information about these clinics:
  • This clinic will offer either the Pfizer or Moderna vaccine. It is possible we may have the Johnson & Johnson vaccine as well, but we do not know that yet. By signing up for this clinic, you are saying that you are open to either the Pfizer or Moderna vaccines. Your booster dose can be any of the three US vaccines: Moderna, Pfizer, or J&J, regardless of what vaccine you originally received. If you are only open to one particular vaccine, please do not sign up for this clinic--seek your booster dose from an alternative source.
  • These clinics are optional and free, regardless of insurance. If an eligible community member does not have health insurance, they can still get a booster dose in one of our clinics.
  • You must bring these items with you to the clinic:
  • Your previous vaccination card. Please locate your hard-copy card in advance of the clinic!  If you can’t find your hard-copy card, bring a picture of your card, e.g., on your phone. If you don’t have your hard-copy card, and you don’t have a picture of your card, please contact us at healthed@lclark.edu as soon as possible for guidance.

  • Your insurance card (if you have one). All insurance is accepted.

  • Be prepared to wait for at least 15 and up to 30 minutes in our observation area after your injection.

If you meet one of the above eligibility requirements, and would like to participate in our COVID-19 Booster Vaccination clinics with the context above, please sign-up here

We will again need faculty/staff volunteers to help support these clinics! I ask employees to please consider volunteering for a one-hour shift -- just write your name on this GoogleSheet. Be sure to consult with your supervisor about approval to volunteer in the clinic.

We are looking forward to the clinics next week. If you have any questions, please contact us at covid19info@lclark.edu.

Best wishes,

John Hancock, Ed.D.
