Dear Parents,

The following message was sent to all Lewis & Clark students this morning.

We are happy to report that power was restored to the undergraduate and law campuses at around 10pm last night. Heat and hot water are again available in most buildings, although a small number of buildings are still without fully functioning heat or hot water. Facilities staff is working hard to get those systems back online. Contractors are scheduled to be on campus where necessary to complete that work.

The Graduate School campus remains completely without power and heat. We have no estimated time for restoration of the Graduate School campus.

Students who do not yet have fully restored heat or power may continue to use Templeton as a warming station and for charging electronics. Food service is available today in Templeton on the normal schedule.

Tree removal contractors are arriving on campus today to begin the massive undertaking of clearing downed trees and other debris. Please continue to avoid damaged trees and stay away from these contractors and their equipment as they work. We can expect to hear quite a bit of chainsawing on campus in the days to come.

No decisions have been made yet about classes and activities tomorrow. We will provide an update later today, after assessing conditions on and around campus. Hundreds of thousands of Portland-area residents remain without power.

Lastly, a sincere thank you to the hardworking staff members in Facilities, Campus Safety, Bon Appetit, A&A, and Student Life (Housing, College Outdoors, Health Service, and beyond) for their tireless efforts. And thank you to students, staff, and faculty who have worked together and supported one another during this historic winter weather event.
